This car went through a complete frame-off from 2011 to 2014 (I have photos). Before buying it, I paid $450 to get it professionally inspected (I have the reports). When I bought the car (Nov 2017), it had a 1955 Packard V8 coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission. Pretty much everything on the car was done as part of the restoration (paint, upholstery, Jag suspension). I replaced the Packard engine and transmission (Jan, 2018) with a high-performance Chevy 350, mated to a 700R4 automatic transmission. The odometer read ~1,800 miles when I bought the car and now there’s roughly 19k miles on it, so I’ve put roughly 17k miles on it in seven years.
The Jag suspension (front and rear) was pretty much moved as is from the 1990 XJS donor. Since 2018, I have replaced:
- Front calipers, rotors and wheel bearings
- Steering rack
- Differential
- Rear rotors
- Rear u-joints and wheel bearings.
- Front and rear shocks
In effect, it’s all new in the last seven years. List of major stuff done by me:
